About Friends of Wyvern

Learn more about who we are, what we do, and how we support the Wyvern College community.

Our Mission

Welcome to the Friends of Wyvern (FoW), the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for Wyvern College! We are a friendly group of parents, carers, staff, and community members dedicated to enhancing the educational experience for all students at Wyvern.

Our primary aim is to raise funds for projects and resources that fall outside the scope of the main school budget. These 'extras' make a real difference, providing students with improved facilities, new equipment, and enriched learning opportunities that support both their academic and personal development.

Who We Are

Friends of Wyvern is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1210988). We are run by a committee of volunteers who are passionate about supporting the school and meet approximately termly to plan fundraising events and discuss how funds should be allocated.

All parents, carers, staff, current students, and ex-students are automatically members of FoW and are welcome to get involved. Parents, carers, and staff are invited to attend meetings and join the committee. Learn more about how you can support us.

What We Fund

The funds raised by Friends of Wyvern go directly towards a wide variety of projects that benefit students across all year groups and subject areas. Examples include:

  • Contributing to major school improvements (e.g., new facilities, refurbishments).
  • Purchasing new equipment for classrooms, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
  • Supporting student wellbeing initiatives.
  • Providing resources for the library and learning support.
  • Funding 'wish list' items requested by school departments.

We work closely with the school to identify priority areas where our support can have the greatest impact. You can see some of our current fundraising goals and projects we've successfully delivered.
